Privacy & demo terms
Last updated 22 October 2026
Brekete is a working prototype. It does not collect money, verify identities, or send funds. Every recipient, transfer and receipt is simulated.
What the demo is
- Transfers, recipients, delivery methods and receipts are fictional. A “BK-DEMO” receipt is not proof of a payment.
- Exchange rates shown in the comparison tool come from a free daily reference-rate service and, where available, public indicative quotes from other providers, checked at the time shown. They can be out of date or wrong, and they are not offers from those providers.
- The “zero fee” and “+3% boost” figures are a simulated Brekete offer, used to explore the product idea. They are not a price you can transact at.
- Coverage shown across Africa describes where we hope to go, not where a service is available.
- We may reset demo data, change features or take the demo offline at any time.
Please use fictional details
Never enter real bank account numbers, card numbers, ID documents or other sensitive information. The demo never needs them.
What we store
- Guest visits: a random session identifier, your demo conversation and demo receipts. If you don’t come back, the guest session expires after 30 days and is then deleted automatically.
- Accounts: your username, display name and a salted, one-way hash of your password (we never store the password itself), plus your demo conversation and receipts. These stay until you delete your account.
- Linked chats: if you connect WhatsApp or Telegram when available, the chat identifier needed to route messages to your account.
- Technical records: short-lived request records that prevent duplicate actions (deleted after about two days), and IP addresses held in memory for about a minute to limit abuse. We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies and browser storage
We set one essential cookie, brekete_session, to keep you signed in. If you turn on “Reduce motion”, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage. Nothing else is stored in your browser.
Services we use
- Natural-language chat (Groq): when you type a message instead of tapping a button, your recent chat text and demo choices are sent to Groq to interpret what you meant. Before sending, we try to remove things that look like emails, long phone or account numbers and labelled secrets. That filter is best-effort, which is another reason to use fictional details. Your username, account ID and session are never sent. Buttons work without it.
- Rates: our server requests reference rates and public provider quotes using only the currencies, country and amount you chose. No personal information is included.
- Hosting: the site and its database run on a cloud hosting provider, which processes data on our behalf.
Your choices
- You can use the demo as a guest without creating an account.
- You can delete your account at any time: open Log in / Join, choose Delete my account and confirm with your password. This permanently removes your account, conversation, demo receipts and linked chats.
- Logging out ends that session on that device.
Changes
If we change how the demo handles data, we’ll update this page and the date above. A live money-transfer service would come with its own, separate terms and privacy notice.
